"We think that success is a one-way street", said Richard. That's why people reach success and then fail. We do many things that lead us up to success. Soon we are there at the top of our game and then stop doing everything that made us successful. It does not take long for all that hard work to go downhill. Richard knows this because the exact same thing happened to him. To be successful, he pushed himself and worked hard. Then he stopped because he thought he made it and no longer had to try, assuming he "doesn't have to improve anymore". While he owned his own business, he always focused on the clients. He then got distracted and payed more attention to the money that was pouring in. Eventually he felt a "black cloud" over him. Although he was wealthy, he was depressed. Richard didn't believe this until it happened to him. He soon learned that money can't buy happiness.
Seven years later, he found himself at the top again. He did all of the things that took him back to success. These eight principals guided him: passion, work, focus, push, ideas, improve, serve, and persist. He learned that success is not a
one-way street, it is a continuous journey. By following those eight principals, he learned how to achieve and sustain success.
This motivational video was inspiring and can help me to focus on success throughout my life, whether it's school or sports. I agree with Richard and can see how he got distracted with money. I've heard that this situation happens to sports celebrities and other famous people often if they don't stay focused. Richard's message was simple and to the point, and easy to apply the eight principles in my life.
